  1. A sitar is an Indian stringed instrument, of 
  2. the lute family. It has a pear-shaped body 
  3. and long neck supported by an additional 
  4. gourd resonator at the opposite end. A 
  5. principal solo instrument, it has seven metal 
  6. strings extending over movable frets and two 
  7. concealed strings that provide a continuous 
  8. drone. It is also played with a plectrum.
